2nd Shift Yard Foreman – Scrap Metal Facility

We are seeking an experienced, hands-on 2nd Shift Yard Foreman to oversee daily scrap-yard operations and help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This is a working leadership position that requires the Foreman to supervise employees while actively supporting yard activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate employees during the second shift.
  • Assign daily work and monitor production throughout the shift.
  • Enforce company safety policies and conduct shift safety meetings.
  • Operate heavy equipment as needed, including excavators, material handlers, loaders, skid steers, and forklifts.
  • Oversee scrap sorting, processing, loading, unloading, and material movement.
  • Ensure equipment inspections are completed, and maintenance concerns are reported promptly.
  • Train, coach, and direct employees.
  • Monitor employee attendance, productivity, and job performance.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Communicate production results, equipment issues, and employee concerns to management.
  • Assist with troubleshooting operational problems and minimizing downtime.
  • Complete shift reports and other required documentation.

Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or lead experience in a scrap yard, recycling facility, construction site, manufacturing plant, or similar industrial environment.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of scrap-metal processing and material identification is preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physical work and remain on your feet for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and following company procedures.
