Purpose of the Role:

The Project Manager is responsible for leading and directing project teams in all aspects of our professional services while acting as the liaison between the project teams, the client, consultants, contractors, and all authorities having jurisdiction over the project. Oversee and manage all activities of the project, including client and contract requirements, project planning and scheduling, staffing needs, and hour requirements to achieve the quality and profit goal expectations of the company.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Maintain a safe work environment with adherence to all EHS policies and procedures.
  • Assist in conformance to all company standards, including ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and provide guidance to project team members with clear, effective, and time-bound delegation. 
  • Develop detailed project plans, budgets, resource allocation, timelines, milestones, and mitigation strategies.
  • Utilize software tools (MS Project, ClickUP, CAD) to schedule, delegate, track, and create regular updates on projects
  • Facilitate regular project meetings to track status, address roadblocks, and maintain accountability
  • Develop standards for the engineering team to follow as it relates to task management and project management
  • Assist in developing the annual CapEx budget and perform post-project financial analysis and validation.
  • Create a system for soliciting, vetting, and selecting vendors for various projects 
  • Oversee contractor work onsite as needed, ensuring all contractor management policies.
  • Ensure all work complies with SLS EHS policies.
  • Ensure quality of workmanship by monitoring processes and making corrections as required.
  • Develop RFP’s, review bids, review contracts, and provide recommendations for the path forward to complete projects 
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with projects, ensuring corrective actions are taken when necessary. Maintain a risk and issues log, escalating critical concerns to leadership as needed. 
  • Collaborate with other teams, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Travel up to 50% based on project load
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Completion of projects within budgeted amounts
  • Completion of assigned training – internal and external

 

Key Relationships

  • Internal – Site Manager, SLS Engineering for special projects, Maintenance Supervisors, Associates
  • External – Customer Operations Manager, Customer engineers, vendors, contractors

Experience/Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, preferred
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience working in an industrial environment with machinery/robotics
  • 5 years of demonstrated experience managing projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary projects
  • Preferred experience managing projects involving robotic systems or other automation-related projects
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certificate preferred

  • Ability to maintain and organize records and documentation
  • Ability to run several projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project
  • Excellent MS Office skills required
  • AutoCAD & Inventor proficiency
  • Understanding of the team concept and leadership skills
