Purpose of the Role

We are seeking a Human Resources Assistant to join our team!  Join our dynamic team as a Human Resources Assistant, where you will play a crucial role in supporting various HR functions.  As a key member of our HR team, you will be responsible for the administrative support of day-to-day HR operations.  The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, ethical, independent self-starter and team player.  This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of our organization by fostering a positive work environment and supporting our employees.

 

Principle Accountabilities

 

  • Provide HR administrative and clerical support to the HR Department.
  • Contribute to employee relations and employee recognition programs.
  • Assist with creating, implementing, administering, and/or communicating HR policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Help manage the contingent workforce and associated manpower requirements; reconcile staffing agency invoices with approved hours and submit to Accounts Payable.
  • Conduct HR-related training as needed.
  • Assist with HR projects.
  • Administer random and reasonable suspicion drug testing.
  • Assist with the administration of leaves of absence in accordance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain manual and electronic HR files.
  • Maintain the integrity and confidentiality of personnel files.
  • Assist EHS with workers’ compensation injuries/claims and associated follow-up.
  • Other HR/Job-related duties as assigned.

 

 Key Relationships

       •      Internal – All levels of personnel

       •      External – Staffing agencies, benefits administrators, vendors (e.g., training, events)

 

Experience/Qualifications Required

 

       •      High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred)

       •      Bilingual – English/Spanish

       •      Two years’ experience in HR administration or related field (in a manufacturing environment preferred)

       •      Proficiency with MS Office Suite

       •      Experience with HRIS/payroll systems preferred

       •      High degree of detail, accuracy, and personal accountability

       •      Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively with all levels of employees

 

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

 

       •      Work is normally performed in a typical office work environment

       •      Typical use of office equipment, including computers, telephones, copiers, etc.

       •      Long periods of sitting, standing, and walking

  •                 Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as a hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, fitted dust mask, etc., as required

       •      Must be able to take on new assignments as needed regardless of existing workload

       •      Must be able to work under deadlines and related stresses in a timely manner

       •      Travel to other locations or for training on occasion
