You will be responsible for leading and managing the operational application of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) as per Company EHS Standards, and local regulatory requirement for assigned sites. You will also lead field EHS staff and support operational leaders understanding and application of EHS standard and regulatory requirements. You will support the implementation of the Company EHS Management System components and report to operations on performance and improvement guidance.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong and trusting relationships with the regional Operations organization in order to facilitate the completion of EHS and operational objectives
  • Manage and implement activities designed to promote operational commitment and adherence to requirements of the global EHS policy, standards and procedures for assigned sites and/or business function
  • Manage quality aspects of the EHS Data Management System to ensure consistent reporting
  • Support the development of EHS Management System components to facilitate understanding and effectiveness of controls
  • Target EHS business risks through monitoring lead and lag indicator data and develop focused corrective action plans
  • Participate, monitor and ensure consistent methods of incident management are followed consistently as per the Company Standard and Guidance Document. This includes but is not limited to, injury management, investigation methods, incident classification, risk rating, action development, accountability process method, and claims management.
  • Facilitate and/or schedule risk assessments, industrial hygiene monitoring, and workplace inspections with EHS Advisors based on expertise
  • Perform and participate in applicable internal and external audits and identify and clearly communicate strengths and opportunities for improvement
  • Support the completion of Company or local EHS related training needs
  • Facilitate the development, and continual improvement of emergency-response procedures and action plans
  • Maintain awareness of local legislative changes, and ensure site-specific permitting and other regulatory items are met with support of the Environmental Partner/Specialist and EHS Risk and Compliance Director/Partner/Specialist
  • Work with Environmental personnel to oversee community engagement/interface pertaining to environmental conditions, EHS opportunities, initiatives and support addressing of concerns.
  • Develop and participate in EHS personnel site engagement scheduling to support the upskilling of supervision and facility/site management, particularly with lead indicator programs (general inspection and critical control verifications). This includes guiding operational personnel in how to create quality key performance indicator deliverables as per program requirements.
  • Drive EHS personnel expectations to engage with facility/site management and supervision through ‘management interactions’, for upskilling opportunities.
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for, and ensure compliance with, all EHS policies, procedures, and initiatives within team
  • Manage costs in line with budgetary requirements and financial policies and procedures
  • Support and recommend continuous improvement initiatives and foster compliance with quality requirements
  • Support and ensure team compliance with all Company policies, procedures, and initiatives

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five-10 years’ managerial experience in high-hazard industry (e.g. warehouse/manufacturing/industrial environment), having multi-site responsibility for Health, Safety and Environment issues
  • Experience implementing workplace health and safety policy and procedures
  • Experience of working with enforcement authorities and regulators involved in Workplace Health and Safety and Environment

  • Strong customer service skills including ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with limited direction
  • Accurate numerical skills including ability to budget within required deadlines and report on outcomes
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational, analytical, and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, comply with strict deadlines, and work in fast-paced environment Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
  • Good computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
