Hours: 7a to 4p Monday - Friday with overtime as required including weekends and holidays. Hours subject to change based on business necessity.

Hourly Rate: $26.20

Union Position: Teamsters Local 853

Union Initiation Fee: $600 / Month Dues: $66

 

Job Summary:

Sorts scrap metal according to grade and size by performing the duties outlined below.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Removes metal/plastic from sorting table, hand-truck, or conveyor and stacks in piles or places in rack or on conveyor, according to grade of the metal/plastic.
  • Gauges types of metal/plastic by sight on sorting table.
  • Keeps work area clean.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to twelve months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. 
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
