The Non Ferrous Supervisor is a key role in the production of recycled nonferrous scrap metal. The primary functions of the department are to (a) receive/purchase non-ferrous scrap brought to the facility, (b) sort and process the non-ferrous scrap to meet industry and customer specifications, and (c) to ship materials to non-ferrous metal customers (i.e., mostly metal melting facilities).  The Non-Ferrous Department Manager/Supervisor manages the daily operations and employees of the nonferrous department to achieve these objectives in a safe and environmentally-sound manner.

Manage day to day operations of the nonferrous department. Adjust processing to meet production demands, improve inefficiencies and meet shipping obligations (i.e., sales). Assure that perpetual inventory remains accurate throughout the month, and physically verify the perpetual inventory on a period basis, in accordance with company standards.

Coach, Develop and otherwise manage employees, including taking disciplinary steps as needed. Lead and support a lean operations strategy while ensuring industry leading safety and environmental practices across the non-ferrous team. Lead the implementation of all aspects of the Sims EH&S Program (safety observations, incident investigations, critical control verifications, training, etc...) to assure that our way of doing the job is always, safe, environmentally responsible and efficient.

Conduct regular inspections across the facility and ensure corrective actions are implemented with the goal of operating as intended, in accordance with operational, environmental and safety standards.  Review  inspections completed by subordinates for accurate, completeness and to assure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.

Lead and oversee the preparation, quality and shipment of prepared non-ferrous metal products per industry and customer specifications. Work with the transportation and commercial teams to assure that delivery deadline are met.  Assure that all customers feel that Sims customer service is superior.

Lead and oversee the receiving of non-ferrous metal scrap/raw material.  Assure proper grading, inspection and pricing;  communicating with the commercial team when received materials are not in conformance with specifications. Assure that all scrap suppliers experience superior customer service.

Various other tasks will be required and assigned as needed for continuous flow of operations at the facility.
