Job Summary

The Yard Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating daily yard operations, including production activities, staff oversight, equipment maintenance, and inventory management. This role ensures operational efficiency, supports workforce development, and upholds safety and quality standards in alignment with company goals.


Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Communicate and reinforce company core values with all yard staff.

  • Train, coach, and mentor employees to support their growth and prepare them for advancement opportunities.

  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production and operational goals.

  • Collaborate with management and yard personnel to address and resolve complaints, conflicts, or grievances.

  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures to ensure proper execution of duties.

  • Oversee the maintenance of all yard equipment, facilities, buildings, and grounds; coordinate with external vendors for service needs as required.

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular physical inventory audits.

  • Partner with the commercial team to develop strategic material-buying programs aligned with yard capacity and production goals.

  • Design and maintain an efficient layout plan for all materials assigned to NF processing.

  • Clearly communicate day-to-day responsibilities and expectations to yard staff.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Familiarity with scrap metal products and basic knowledge of the recycling industry preferred.

  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to negotiate effectively.

  • Experience managing a diverse team in a fast-paced manufacturing or production environment.

  • Solid mechanical aptitude with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow procedures and written instructions with accuracy.

  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, inventory systems, etc.).

  • Must speak and understand English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
