Summary:
Responsible for the management, profit & loss, and day-to-day operations of the Richmond, CA facility for ferrous and non-ferrous metals processing.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with EHS to ensure employees and yard operations are aligned with the Company’s commitment to safety.
- Manage staff which includes yard laborers, mechanics, equipment operators, and supervisory staff.
- Develop strategies, business plans, budgets and programs to contain cost and to increase productivity.
- Implement corporate sponsored initiatives, including standardized production and budget forecasting/reporting for all departments.
- Partner with regional HR team to implement performance management, change management, and employee engagement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Five to eight years applicable industry experience with a working understanding of different types of scraps.
- Bachelor’s degree in management, Engineering or other related field.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to find suitable solutions to productivity issues.
- Knowledge of port and ship loading activities a plus.
- Experience interfacing with government agencies a plus.
- Familiarity with CA environmental and air pollution laws preferred.
- Knowledge of shears, balers, mobile equipment as well as requisite tools, equipment, and supplies required for operations
