Position Summary
To oversee production & maintenance for Shredder while maintaining a high level of safety. This would include all aspects of daily production, maximize manpower performance and improve shredder maintenance to minimize downtime.

Essential Functions
- Manage day-to-day operations including shredder production, coordination and oversight of team, and follow through of shredder operations.
- Oversee and ensure timely maintenance and repairs of shredders and ancillary equipment.
- Review, compile, and approve daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports & documentation for mill.
- Monitoring of material flow to and from the mill, including truck and equipment traffic.
- Direct shredder improvement and special projects.
- Utilize and maintain tracking system for wear parts.
- Optimize production while decreasing production costs, minimizing downtime and improving yard maintenance.
- Conduct employee training to ensure proper safety and procedures for operation and maintenance.
- Update tracking systems to report production, downtime, wear parts, costs, and ferrous and non-ferrous recoveries regularly.
- Other projects or assignments as required to meet business needs.
Supervisory responsibilities
Assist and Supervise other supervisors/foremen and employees to install/fabricate/alter and repair mill, conveyor and metal separation components. Must be able to work weekend shifts.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Engineering degree preferred.
Job related Experience

- Up to 8 years’ experience supervising employees in a similar scrap handling work or industrial operations desired.
- Hands on experience with the operation & maintenance of shredders and material handling equipment.
Other Skills and Responsibilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Intermediate knowledge of different types of scrap metal, ferrous, and non-ferrous materials.
- Ability to effectively lead a team and foster a positive work culture.
- Knowledge of production and financial reporting.
- Ability to operate equipment such as pay loader, cranes, and mill.
- Assess, troubleshoot, and implement corrections within operations.
- Dedication to a strong safety, environmental, and policy compliant culture.
Job Conditions:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, 8-10 hours per day.
Physical Activities Required to Perform Essential Functions:
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for up to 12 hours per day; bend, crouch; climb, balance, push/pull, lift or carry up to 50 pounds; hand and finger dexterity to grasp tools and equipment parts to make repairs. Visual acuity for close inspection of documents, schematics, and equipment parts for repairs.
