Job Summary:
Serves as a controller to ensure inbound material meets company specifications and requirements, and identifies prohibited items form the scrap stream to ensure the safety of people and property, protection of assets and business preservation.
- In conjunction with the traffic management compliance program, directs truck flow in yard to ensure safe and efficient movement. Communicates with transportation and EHS unsafe acts.
- Works with management in determining workflow in the yard and optimum placement of materials utilizing processing procedures.
- Operates heavy equipment as required including, but not limited to, material handlers and loaders.
- Inspects inbound material for grading. Issues inspection tickets annotating appropriate deductions and documents them, if needed.
- Inspects inbound material for non-conforming material to determine appropriate actions if material is found.
- Communicates with management and sales force regarding problematic loads to determine appropriate actions. May include photographing material.
- Inspects outbound material for quality and sizing utilizing knowledge base of customer requirements and processing procedures.
- Reporting required for administrative and regulatory compliance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Experience:
- In-depth knowledge of material types and hazards preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and respond quickly to changing conditions.
- Fluent in Spanish preferred.
- Ability to navigate challenging situations diplomatically.
- Fluent in MS Office.
