Job Summary:
The Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of workers engaged in operating machines that process recyclable materials, including screening, sorting, separating, and baling. This role ensures efficient workflow, adherence to safety and quality standards, and optimal productivity during assigned shifts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor sorting, equipment operation, processing, and packaging to ensure compliance with company specifications.
  • Review production schedules and collaborate with supervisory staff to plan shift operations effectively.
  • Assign tasks to workers according to production schedules and provide guidance on the safe and efficient use of equipment.
  • Inspect machinery and equipment to verify adherence to production standards and report any issues.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate time, attendance, and production reports.
  • Oversee daily metrics, ensuring operational targets are consistently met.
  • Delegate responsibilities and monitor team performance to maintain productivity and efficiency.
  • Lead process and quality improvement initiatives to enhance workflow and product quality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and operating machinery.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The physical requirements outlined below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.

  • Frequent standing and manual dexterity for equipment handling.
  • Occasional walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
  • Regular lifting of up to 25 lbs., frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs., and occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to climb, balance, reach, and perform tasks requiring depth perception and focus adjustment.
  • Work environment noise levels are typically loud due to machinery operations.
