Responsible for the planning, stevedoring, ship loading of steel scrap material handling. Supervision of export terminal activities, including vessel loading, stevedoring, safety, sanitation, and ship loading employees: scheduling, training, coaching and engagement.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains all operations within Company Safety and Environmental Policies
  • Inbound quality control and inventory control
  • Prepares ship loading reports, maintenance, wear part usage etc. on a regular and timely basis
  • Develop and demonstrate strong competency in SMM Incident Management System (KMI).
  • Provide planning, communication, direction and organization to agents, stevedoring companies, suppliers, yard personnel and security personnel during bulk cargo ship loading operations
  • Handles the inspection, budgeting and repair of mobile equipment
  • Trains and directs department employees in proper use of equipment
  • Supervises the yard operations, employees and contribute to personnel decisions including hiring, and discipline

 

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Up to 5 years experience in the maritime field. Bulk ship loading experience required. Familiar with barge operations, as well as maintenance & repairs of cranes, barges and ancillary equipment. Supervisory experience with union and non-union personnel. General knowledge of docks and waterways. Maritime college degree or equivalent, or equivalent business experience required. Employee must be conscientious in practicing safe operating conditions in the plants at all times and be able to anticipate equipment maintenance needs. Must have the technical knowledge to repair and maintain barges, & cranes.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Computer skills of maintaining various databases, generating various forms, and being able to access information are desired.
