Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Shredder Supervisor to oversee the production and maintenance of our shredder operations. This role is responsible for maximizing daily production efficiency, managing personnel performance, and ensuring consistent adherence to safety standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, technical, and problem-solving skills to minimize downtime and support a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:

Manage and coordinate all aspects of daily shredder production.

Operate the shredder during production shifts as needed.

Conduct and document pre-shift startup inspections.

Perform on-the-spot repairs and troubleshoot breakdowns during shifts.

Record and maintain accurate production totals.

Train and mentor team members to ensure ongoing development.

Lead safety training and enforce safety standards among union personnel.

Ensure all safety protocols and operational procedures are consistently followed.

Work collaboratively with other supervisors to prioritize facility needs.

Participate in special projects or perform additional duties as assigned by management to support company operations.
Requirements & Qualifications:

High school diploma or technical school certification required.

Up to four years of supervisory experience in scrap handling, shredder operations, or a similar manufacturing environment.

Hands-on experience with shredder equipment and material handling machinery (e.g., cranes, shears, balers).

Proven ability to lead and communicate effectively with both union and non-union employees.

Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills to quickly address mechanical and operational issues.

Proficient in basic computer applications for reporting and documentation purposes.

General knowledge of various types of scrap metal is preferred.

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors for extended periods (8–10 hours/day).

Welding and oxy-fuel cutting skills preferred.

Experience supervising or assisting in the installation, fabrication, alteration, and repair of mill and NF Production components.
