The burner position uses an Oxy-Fuel set for torching heavy metal.

 

Job Responsibilities  


•    Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits
•    Torch cut metal parts, large metal pieces, or components into smaller sizes •    Torch cut metal parts in flat, horizontal or vertical position
•    Select & insert gas nozzle into holder and connects hoses to achieve gas specifications
•    Select & install torch or torch tip according to chart specifications or type of thickness of metal
•    Guide torch at specified speed and angle to cut or trim metal
•    Perform other duties as assigned 


Job Qualifications 


•    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and training school
•    Six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience

•    While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
•    Must pass a pre-employment physical that includes satisfactory completion of a Pulmonary Function Test and Lead Physical.  Employee must be able to comfortably wear a respirator and all other PPE. (i.e. Coveralls, Safety glasses, face shield, protective leathers, hard hat, etc.)  Must be able to work outside under extreme temperature conditions. (Heat, cold, snow etc.)  Position involves standing for long periods of time, as well as, some heavy lifting, climbing and bending.  Additional duties may require the ability to climb into a high cab to operate an extremely large dirt mining truck.
•    The employee may be exposed to lead levels at or above the action level of 30 micrograms per cubic meter of air during an eight hour work period.
•    All duties and responsibilities in addition to any other assigned duties, require that the employee have an excellent field of vision with the ability to differentiate colors.
