Purpose of Role
The role is responsible for supporting the commercial managers and buyers across all administration activities with new and existing suppliers and all other back-office tasks – from supplier onboarding and administration, pricing assistance, commercial compliance, coordination, and supplier retention.
Primary Focus
Provide commercial transactional support, documentation and data stewardship of supplier data, and other back-office activities, enabling Sims’ buyers to focus on buying activities. Represents the administrative, day-to-day trusted point of contact for Sims’ suppliers and buyers.
Principal Accountabilities
Commercial Back-Office Administration
- Provides buyers support during the Buy process, general contracts administration, pricing input into systems, generation and distribution of buy-related reports
- Is the main point of contact for transactional, day-to-day requests from suppliers and is responsible for accurate data processing such as suppliers on boarding, pricing, on time payments, and supplier data maintenance in Sims’ systems
- Ensures compliant and positive supplier on boarding while building a trusted partnership with suppliers’ stakeholders
- Coordinates with Domestic Transportation to ensure timely delivery of materials in line with agreed SLAs and supplier requests
- Supports buyers in minimizing administrative, compliance, and back-office work
Commercial Support
- Inputs new leads from web and inbound calls into CRM system
- Aids Lead representatives / Inside Buyers in managing and maintaining a pipeline of opportunities
Suppliers’ issue resolution
- Answers suppliers’ queries timely and professionally and keeps track of suppliers’ conversations; is the main interface with suppliers regarding shipment and delivery information.
- Identifies, manages and proactively seeks solutions for potential problems experienced by suppliers
- Ensures resolution, in coordination with Transport Planning and Dispatch, of pick-up issues and transportation and bin-related claims; coordinates issue resolution for administrative and financial topics in cooperation with Sims’ Shared Services
Other Accountabilities

Experience/ Qualifications Required
- Previous data and/or order management experience preferred but not required
Skills
- Basic data entry
- Basic computer skills, including MS excel, MS word, and MS Outlook
- Able to communicate verbally and in writing
Working Conditions / Physical Demands
- Ability to work in all seasons
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment when needed
