Purpose of Role:
The Solutions Process Operator is responsible for ensuring the optimal extraction of precious metals from certain non-liquid and liquid raw materials.
Principle Accountabilities:

Comply with all Safety, Health, Environment, Community, and Sustainability policies, procedures, and initiatives, including SimsMMway Program, to ensure a safe work environment.

Comply with all Company policies, procedures, and initiatives.

Support diversity and inclusion, positive employee relations, and team environment.

As instructed and confirmed by validated paperwork, plate-out all evaporated solutions using cathode procedures.

Transfer spent solutions to evaporators.

Monitor chemical inventory levels and communicate need for re-supply.

Periodically evaluate spill-control apparatus and report potential problems.

Sort, package, and stage material as directed by Lead or Supervisor.

Determine need for additional sorting and/or equipment modifications to ensure efficient sampling.

Regularly inspect equipment for defects and perform routine maintenance as required; refer more substantial maintenance needs to Lead or Supervisor.

Provide guidance and assistance to others as appropriate to improve quality and workmanship; assist Lead or Supervisor in providing on-the-job training.

Report accidents or incidents immediately to a Lead or Supervisor and complete required forms; report issues that will affect production to Lead or Supervisor.

Work diligently and efficiently to provide cost-competitive service to customers.

Seek continuous process improvement and learning opportunities in collaboration with Lead or Supervisor.

Properly use applicable tracking systems to track material; complete all required records and reports.

Clean equipment as required; maintain a neat and orderly work area.

May be required to assist with monthly inventory.

May be required to operate two machines simultaneously.

Experience/Qualifications Required:
-
Relevant high school qualifications or equivalent combination of education and experience
-
1 year of experience in warehouse environment
-
2 years of experience in heavy industrial environment, preferred
-
Some experience with basic machine maintenance processes, preferred
-
2 years of experience in the plating field, preferred
Skills and Competencies:

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions

Organizational skills and attention to detail

Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Ability to drive a forklift and/or pallet jack

Ability to work with industrial-size power and hand tools

Basic arithmetic

Experience working with chemicals/plating, preferred

Some understanding of chemistry or chemical reactions, preferred
Working Conditions:
-
Work is performed in a warehouse environment with regular exposure to noise, dust, heat (sometimes intense), fumes, and burning/smoking materials

Regular exposure to chemicals and solutions that may cause skin or eye irritation
-
Regularly required to lift, push, pull, and/or stack materials up to 40 lbs.

Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and standing
-
Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as half mask respirator, hard hat, safety shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, etc., as required

Some use of office equipment including computers, telephones, copiers, etc.

Work schedule may be adjusted as business needs dictate

Must be able to take on new assignments as needed regardless of existing workload

Must be able to work under deadlines and related stresses in a timely manner
