Welder Mechanic – Conveyor Maintenance
Location: Baltimore, MD
Pay Rate: $30.00–$40.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Welder Mechanic to perform maintenance, welding, fabrication, and repairs on conveyor systems and industrial equipment at our Baltimore scrap metal recycling facility.
This is a hands-on maintenance position ideal for someone with strong MIG/Stick welding, fabrication, mechanical troubleshooting, and conveyor maintenance experience. Candidates with backgrounds in scrap metal, recycling, aggregate, manufacturing, mining, or other heavy industrial environments are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities

Perform maintenance and repairs on conveyor systems, rollers, bearings, pulleys, shafts, gearboxes, motors, and related equipment.

Troubleshoot conveyor breakdowns and mechanical failures to minimize downtime.

Perform MIG and Stick welding on structural steel and industrial equipment.

Fabricate, modify, and repair chutes, guards, brackets, frames, platforms, and other steel components.

Replace and repair conveyor belts, rollers, bearings, sprockets, chains, and related components.

Perform cutting, grinding, fitting, and metal fabrication.

Use oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and other fabrication equipment safely.

Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.

Identify worn or damaged components before they result in equipment failure.

Assist with repairs and maintenance on other scrap-processing and industrial equipment as needed.

Read measurements, drawings, and basic fabrication layouts.

Follow all safety procedures, including proper lockout/tagout practices.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Qualifications
-
3+ years of welding, mechanical maintenance, or industrial maintenance experience preferred.

Strong MIG and Stick welding skills.

Experience maintaining and repairing industrial conveyor systems strongly preferred.

Strong mechanical aptitude with experience working with bearings, rollers, pulleys, gearboxes, motors, chains, and shafts.

Ability to use torches, plasma cutters, grinders, and common mechanic/fabrication tools.

Welding and fabrication experience with heavy-gauge steel preferred.

Experience in a scrap yard, recycling facility, aggregate operation, steel mill, manufacturing plant, mining operation, or other heavy industrial environment is a plus.

Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems and complete repairs with limited supervision.

Comfortable working outdoors and around heavy industrial equipment.

Ability to work overtime as needed.
Physical Requirements
This position requires standing, walking, climbing, bending, kneeling, and working around conveyors and heavy industrial equipment. Candidates must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
