The role: 

As a Purchasing Coordinator/Office Assistant at Sims Metal, you will be responsible for the coordination & performance of activities involved with the purchasing of a diverse range of goods and services into the Northern Territory Metal business unit. The Purchasing Officer/Admin is an integral part of the procure-to-pay process in the purchasing of goods and services.

We're looking for someone who can build strong working relationships, deliver great customer service, and always be on the lookout for ways to improve how we do things. You'll also support safety and quality initiatives, making this a well-rounded and dynamic position.

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Process purchase requisitions 
  • Resolve invoicing and payment issues
  • Obtain quotes and stock availability from vendors
  • Retrieve appropriate documentation for vendor set-up
  • Ensure Management have up-to-date and relevant business information available at any time by updating a number of spreadsheets, maintaining appropriate filing systems and carrying out regular admin tasks
  • Update Public pricing list & distribute accordingly
  • Relief for weighbridge cashier as required
  • Other administrative services / assistance that may be required from time to time

 

Requirements: 

  • Purchasing experience
  • Strong customer service/administrative skills and experience
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Suite
  • Experience using SAP software (desirable)
