Plant Operator

 

Reporting to the Yard Manager, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring materials are processed safely and efficiently while delivering outstanding customer service.

 

This is a varied role that combines customer interaction, equipment operation, and practical yard work, making it perfect for someone who enjoys staying active and getting stuck in.

 

What you’ll be doing

 

  • Grading, sorting, and purchasing a range of scrap metals
  • Loading and unloading trucks, skip bins, and trailers
  • Assisting customers with enquiries and providing a positive service experience
  • Operating forklifts and other site machinery and equipment
  • Weighing, bagging, palletising, and preparing materials for transport and stocktake
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment
  • Following workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
  • Supporting the wider team to keep the site running smoothly

You're someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing a job well, and thrives in a team environment.

 

You'll bring:

  • A strong work ethic and positive, can-do attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and sort different materials
  • A willingness to learn and develop new skills
  • Previous experience in recycling, warehousing, labouring, manufacturing, construction, customer service, or a similar hands-on environment
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
  • Commitment to working safely and following procedures
  • Basic numeracy and computer skills
  • Reliability, initiative, and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment

 

Bonus Points If You Have

 

  • Forklift Licence (highly regarded)
  • Previous experience operating machinery or working in recycling, waste, logistics, manufacturing, or resource recovery
