Plant Operator
Reporting to the Yard Manager, you'll be at the heart of our operations, ensuring materials are processed safely and efficiently while delivering outstanding customer service.
This is a varied role that combines customer interaction, equipment operation, and practical yard work, making it perfect for someone who enjoys staying active and getting stuck in.
What you’ll be doing
- Grading, sorting, and purchasing a range of scrap metals
- Loading and unloading trucks, skip bins, and trailers
- Assisting customers with enquiries and providing a positive service experience
- Operating forklifts and other site machinery and equipment
- Weighing, bagging, palletising, and preparing materials for transport and stocktake
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe work environment
- Following workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times
- Supporting the wider team to keep the site running smoothly
What Makes You a Great Fit?

You'll bring:
- A strong work ethic and positive, can-do attitude
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to identify and sort different materials
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Previous experience in recycling, warehousing, labouring, manufacturing, construction, customer service, or a similar hands-on environment
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset
- Commitment to working safely and following procedures
- Basic numeracy and computer skills
- Reliability, initiative, and the ability to work effectively in a busy environment
Bonus Points If You Have
- Forklift Licence (highly regarded)
- Previous experience operating machinery or working in recycling, waste, logistics, manufacturing, or resource recovery
