Sims Metal have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our SA maintenance team, based in Gillman.
Reporting to the Afternoon Shift Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in carrying out preventative maintenance, servicing, and day to day repairs on our fixed and mobile equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on fixed plant equipment, including hammermill shredder, conveyor systems, balers, and metal sorters
- Work to a daily maintenance plan and complete all relevant documentation
- Respond to and assist with equipment breakdowns
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Follow all safety, environmental, and quality protocols
About You:
- Trade qualified Fitter & Turner, preferably with experience in conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics and gearboxes
- Basic arc welding and oxy cutting would be an advantage
- Hold a current driver’s license
- Preferably hands-on experience in a similar industrial or metal processing environment
- Strong diagnostic and repair skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
