Your new role
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced leader to manage our St Marys yard. Reporting to the NSW Operations Manager, this position provides you with an opportunity to work with our NSW team to ensure the yard operates at maximum efficiency while maintaining excellent vendor and customer service.
In this role, strong leadership is key as you oversee a dynamic and fast-paced yard, leading a high-performing team of 40 staff members. Your ability to inspire, guide, and support your team—combined with expertise in ferrous buying, mobile equipment, and weighbridge operations—will be essential in ensuring the yard runs efficiently and successfully.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all yard operations to ensure Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality requirements are exceeded.
- Maximise sustainable profit by establishing and implementing production goals, objectives and procedures in line with budgets and forecasts.
- Use knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and with the use of continuous improvement techniques for maximising the effective processing of scrap.
- Ensure the yard operates in full compliance with all relevant legal regulations.
- Conduct training as required, including induction of new employees.
Essential Criteria:
- 2 + years of previous leadership skills in a similar industry.
- Knowledge and understanding of the scrap metal industry and its processing techniques and equipment.
- In-depth scheduling, planning, and time management skills.
- Basic understanding NHVR mass and dimension limits.
- Experience with mobile equipment is advantageous.
