Operator - Day Shift (9:00am - 5:00pm)

 

Reporting to the Yard Supervisor, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of our recycling facility. This hands-on role will see you working closely with customers, drivers, and the operations team to receive, process, and organise recyclable materials while maintaining a safe and productive yard environment.

 

Working as part of a dedicated team, you will assist with traffic management, operate a forklift, support customers on site, and ensure materials are handled safely and efficiently.

 

What you'll be doing:

 

  • Direct and assist customers, visitors, and delivery drivers within the yard.
  • Operate a forklift to load, unload, and move materials safely.
  • Managing traffic control and maintaining a safe flow of vehicles throughout the site.
  • Inspect, sort, and process incoming recyclable materials.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
  • Identify and report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
  • Assist with general yard duties and other operational tasks as required.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and represent the business professionally.

 

What you'll bring:

 

  • Current Forklift Licence (essential).
  • Previous yard hand experience, ideally within the waste, recycling, scrap metal, or a similar industrial environment.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to interact with a wide range of people.
  • A resilient, adaptable, and hands-on approach to work.
  • Knowledge of traffic control would be highly regarded.
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
