An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated and capable individual to step into the role of Yard Manager at our Bathurst yard! This is a chance to take on a key leadership position and drive operational performance, safety, and team development.

In this position you will be managing a small, close-knit team. Experience across the breadth of our yard operations, including Non-Ferrous Buying, Machine & Weighbridge operations, and driver experience, will ensure you are able to step in and support the team where required.

 

Key responsibilities 

  • Lead and coordinate daily operations to ensure efficient processing and transport of scrap metal
  • Maximise productivity by optimising people, equipment, and material usage
  • Support and develop team members to perform safely and effectively
  • Manage transport schedules and vendor/customer relationships
  • Manage all yard operations to ensure Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality requirements are exceeded
  • Monitor stock levels, costs, and maintenance in line with business requirements
  • Drive continuous improvement across operations

 

Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 2 years previous team leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and people management skills
  • A solid understanding of operations, logistics, or scrap metal processing
  • Ability to plan and manage workloads while promoting a strong safety culture
  • Customer service focus and effective relationship-building skills
  • Sound computer skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • A proactive, resilient, and solutions-oriented mindset

 

Desired Criteria

  • Forklift or Excavator ticket
  • Working knowledge of SAI and SAP
  • Knowledge and understanding of the scrap metal industry and its processing techniques and equipment
  • Basic understanding NHVR mass and dimension limits.
