The Role:
Responsible for the preparation and review of financial accounting deliverables for the Global Non-Ferrous Trading (GNFT) and related export entities, working in close
partnership with the GSS Chennai team and supporting the Finance Manager with specialist revenue recognition, hedging, and intercompany trading activities.
This role operates within the GSS operating model, preparing complex onshore accounting deliverables - particularly in export revenue, deferred income, and accounts
receivable, reviewing outputs from the Chennai team, and serving as a day-to-day point of contact for GSS queries relating to GNFT entities.
The Financial Accountant GNFT supports the Finance Manager GNFT in maintaining quality standards, partnering with traders and commercial teams, and driving process
improvements.
Accountabilities:
GNFT Revenue Recognition & Export Accounting Support
- Prepare BSM and SAP extracts for deferred income analysis
- Support the Finance Manager with the Deferred Income Analysis workbook and revenue recognition of LC/DP shipments
- Prepare DI vs Debtor netting analysis and deferred income adjustments
- Prepare SIT accruals and margin elimination entries for Finance Manager review
- Prepare Sales/COGS regional allocation journals for GNFT
- Hedging & Foreign Exchange Support
- Support hedge account reconciliations and revenue recognition for Hedge P&L
- Prepare FX adjustment reconciliations and revaluation analysis
- Prepare futures accounts reconciliations
- Run FX revaluation and prepare FX rate distribution reporting
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and post journals for GNFT entities including management fee accruals, lease expense reclassifications, annual leave liabilities, depreciation postings, professional
fee provisions, and LTI/STI accruals - Review GSS-prepared month-end outputs including standing journals, HSBC payment processing, and ledger postings for accuracy
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline for GNFT entities
- Prepare EOM timetable/local checklist to ensure all tasks and activities are tracked
- Prepare GNFT Flash P&L for Finance Manager review before submission to Financial Control
GSS Collaboration & Quality Review
- Review GSS Chennai-prepared reconciliations, journals, and reports for GNFT entities
- Serve as day-to-day point of contact for GSS team queries on GNFT-specific matters
- Provide guidance and feedback to GSS team on GNFT requirements and quality expectations
- Escalate complex issues and quality concerns to the Finance Manager
Balance Sheet Reconciliations
- Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations for GNFT entities
- Review GSS-prepared AP/AR aging schedules, bank reconciliations, GST reconciliations, recoverable charges, security deposits, agency clearing, prepayments,
margin deposits, accruals, and claims provisions schedules
Intercompany & Trading
- Prepare and review payroll recharges (to AUS/US and from AUS), hotel recharges, and long service leave intercompany
- Prepare service fee calculations (1.5% from GNFT to Regions/SRS)
- Prepare IC balance listing for distribution to yards and SAR HFM/Hyperion Consolidation
- Prepare 503 GNFT Singapore SFR and 500 SMMAL (HK) SFR for loading
- Prepare ANZ Flash P&L data for consolidation Accounts Receivable (GNFT-specific)
- Support brokerage reporting, AR month-end closing reports, and reclass of credit balances in debtors
- Maintain OneDrive records and documentation Stakeholder Support & Business Partnering
- Assist with trader queries on accounts receivable and posting matters
- Support contracts team with correct posting to customers and vendors
- Problem-solve duplicate transactions, incorrect postings, and other complex issues
- Review final invoices (BSM report) from shipping team
Tax & Statutory
- Prepare quarterly tax submissions for GNFT entities for Finance Manager and Tax team review
- Support annual financial statement preparation for GNFT entities
- Oversee customer audit confirmation processes AP Analytics
- Prepare payments summaries (interco, SAR, RSR) and Concur journal reviews
- Support debit/credit note processing and NEMT processes Systems & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, particularly in revenue recognition and AR processes
- Support GSS-led process improvement initiatives as directed by the Finance Manager Audit, Joint Venture & ANZ Support
- Provide support for internal and external audits
- Participate in broader finance projects and system enhancements
- Perform Joint Venture accounts activities
- Perform Joint Venture end-of-month activities
- Assist with ANZ end-of-month activities
- Assist with ad hoc ANZ tasks
