The Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of heavy excavation plant to process, sort, and load metal materials within the recycling facility. The primary objective
is to utilise specialised attachments to grade scrap metal and feed production machinery while maintaining the highest standards of site safety and plant maintenance.
- Plant Operation: Preparing and position the plant for operations; operating control to
excavate, break, move, load, and spread metal scrap, rubble, and other recycled
materials. - Attachment Management: Selecting, fitting, and removing attachments such as
buckets, hydraulic shears, grapples, and magnets tot suit specific material processing
needs. - Technical Precision: Raising, lowering, and manipulating attachments using manual
and hydraulic controls to sort ferrous and non-ferrous metals. - Process Control: Monitoring the operation of the plant and adjusting controls to
regulate the pressure, speed, and flow of operation, specifically when using
processing attachments like shears or grabs. - Instructional Compliance: Working accurately from drawings, site markers, and
verbal instructions to meet yard sorting and export loading requirements. - Safety Coordination: Ensuring the safety of other workers by maintaining strict
exclusion zones and regulating machine movements in a high-traffic environment. - Maintenance: Servicing, lubricating, cleaning, and refilling plant, performing minor
adjustments and repairs to ensure machine longevity and minimise downtime.
