The Role:
You’ll transport scrap metal between customer sites and our yards, ensuring safe, efficient deliveries while providing great customer service. This is a hands-on role offering variety, independence on the road, and the chance to be part of a supportive, close-knit team.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy vehicles to transport materials in line with company and legislative requirements
- Plan and manage daily runs to ensure efficient and timely deliveries
- Load and unload materials safely and efficiently
- Complete all required documentation accurately and on time
- Maintain strong relationships with customers and provide excellent service on-site
- Identify, grade and (where required) price ferrous and non-ferrous materials
- Work closely with the Transport and Trading teams to meet operational targets
- Monitor and manage bins at customer sites, ensuring efficient turnover
- Report issues, hazards, and improvement opportunities promptly
- Follow all safety, environmental and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) requirements
About You
- Valid HR licence (essential)
- Strong understanding of road transport and Chain of Responsibility legislation
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks effectively
- Basic computer skills (for systems and reporting)
- Crane and forklift experience preferable
