Your new role

 

An opportunity has arisen for a Tax Accountant Analyst to work in our corporate Mascot office on a contract role (up to 12 Months) reporting to the APAC Senior Tax Manager.

 

The role will be multi-disciplinary however will have a focus on federal tax provisions and compliance of the APAC region, including detailed tax calculations of the businesses.

 

This role will also provide ample opportunities to work in other tax areas, including international taxes, indirect tax - GST, and tax planning projects. This position will be instrumental in providing day-to-day support to the business and being a valued member of the Finance group. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Assist with corporate income tax return compliance, including the preparation of work papers and supporting documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation and lodgement of Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) instalments.
  • Prepare semi-annual tax provisions for APAC entities.
  • Prepare journal entries to allocate income tax liabilities across Tax Consolidated Group (TCG) members.
  • Partner with the Accounting team to identify and eliminate Australian intercompany transaction,
  • Import financial data into indirect tax systems and prepare GST returns across the Asia Pacific region. Perform GST reconciliations and prepare associated journal entries.
  • Prepare journal entries to allocate GST refunds among GST group members. Assist with tax audits and respond to enquiries and notices from tax authorities.
  • Support the development and implementation of tax governance processes and controls.
  • Assist the Senior Tax Manager with transfer pricing compliance, filings, and related disclosures.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to gather information and resolve tax-related queries.
  • Monitor changes in tax legislation and accounting standards and assess impacts on the business.
  • Maintain and update records relating to APAC entity locations. Conduct tax research and prepare technical memoranda to document findings, positions, and recommendations.
  • Assist in resolving tax notices and compliance matters across multiple jurisdictions. Liaise with Finance, Treasury, Legal, Operations, and external advisors to develop practical tax solutions and strategies.
  • Support business operations with day-to-day tax advice and assistance. Contribute to special projects and ad hoc tax initiatives, including accounting method changes, tax law developments, and other compliance-related activities.

 

About you:

 

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline (taxation focus preferred).
  • Professional qualification such as CA or CPA.
  • Experience working with financial accounting systems such as SAP, SAI, Hyperion, or similar.
  • Understanding of corporate income tax compliance and tax provision processes.
  • Exposure to tax accounting principles and practices.
  • Ability to review legislation, regulations, and tax guidance and provide practical recommendations.
  • Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
