Your new role
Reporting to the Afternoon Shift Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance on fixed plant equipment to ensure maximum availability and reliability. This position operates primarily on the afternoon shift and supports production goals through efficient mechanical upkeep and timely response to breakdowns.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance and inspections on our Shredder, conveyors, chutes, skirts, bearings, and associated equipment.
- Attend to breakdowns promptly to minimize downtime and restore equipment functionality.
- Perform mechanical repairs, replacements, and upgrades under OEM standards and safety protocols.
- Accurately complete job cards, maintenance records, and work orders in the CMMS system (MEX).
- Collaborate with other fitters, boilermakers, electricians, and production teams to ensure smooth handovers and effective communication.
- Identify and report potential issues or hazards to prevent equipment failure and safety incidents.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with site and company safety standards.
- Participate in toolbox meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Adhere to company policies and all legislative and site-specific safety requirements.
To be successful in this opportunity, you will have:
- Australian-recognised Mechanical Fitting Trade Qualification (e.g., Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade)
- Proven experience in fixed plant maintenance in a mining, quarrying, or heavy industrial environment.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- High awareness of safety protocols and commitment to safe work practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including climbing, lifting, and working in confined spaces.
- Fit to work in hot, dusty, and noisy conditions with appropriate PPE.

- Reliable, punctual, and flexible in responding to operational requirements.
Desirable:
- Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights, and Confined Space qualifications.
- Basic welding or fabrication experience.
- Familiarity with CMMS (MEX) or similar.
The roster for this position is 3 pm – 11.06 pm/12.30 am, subject to what’s happening on site. You will be eligible for shift loading on top of a competitive hourly rate, and overtime applies after 11.06 pm each day!
