The role:
An exciting opportunity has opened in our dynamic trading team for a self-motivated professional with strong relationship-building skills. This role focuses on developing strategic client connections across ACT and the southern NSW region.
Step outside the traditional office and into a fast-paced, hands-on environment where no two days are the same. Use your buying, selling, and negotiation expertise to source and procure ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal and driving growth for Sims Metal. This role is based in Canberra; however, for the right candidate, it can be based at our Milperra site in NSW.
Responsibilities:
- Procuring and pricing ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials within guidelines as determined by the Trading Manager, and within legislative requirements.
- Liaising with the Trading Managers and monitoring price, intake, and transport at all times to ensure targets are reached, including adherence to applicable price levels, margins, and serviceability.
- Ensuring that purchased materials conform to specifications.
- Completing monthly reports in a timely and accurate manner and participating in meetings to discuss and review results as required.
About you:
- 5 + years of experience in an Account Management or Sales role.
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is highly regarded.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with extensive experience in negotiation and effective closing of deals.
- Analytical thinker with a strategic approach to identifying and leveraging market opportunities.
- Knowledge and understanding of the recycling, waste management, or scrap metal Industry is highly regarded.
