A vacancy has arisen for a Non Ferrous Manager based at our Hartlepool site. 

 

The purpose of the role is to work with the Site Manager in ensuring that facilities operate at maximum efficiency in relation to output, ensuring product quality is to specification and costs are in accordance with Company budgets or forecasts and that customer, safety and housekeeping standards are consistently maintained.

 

Key accountabilities of the role holder include:

  • Ensure that the Non Ferrous facilities operate at maximum efficiency in relation to tonnage in and out
  • Work with the Site Manager & NF Manager North / South on general operational requirements
    • Ensure targeted stock levels are achieved at site
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with suppliers, customers and departments in the Site Support Centre
  • To ensure that all product quality is to specific customer standards and specification
  • Material Claims management - Responsible & accountable  for reviewing data, achieve target reduction and implement corrective actions
  • To achieve business costs in accordance with Company budgets or forecasts
  • To support the Non Ferrous Facility in accordance with Health, Safety and Environmental legislative requirements and Company SHECS guidelines
    • To exercise the authority to raise and act upon any non-conformances arising within the scope of responsibilities of the position
    • Personally demonstrate and encourage commitment to SHECS Management Policies  and Procedures
    • Ensure that all key reporting staff equally demonstrate their commitment
    • Review all relative statistics and take corrective action where necessary
  • To analyse, evaluate and secure Non Ferrous opportunities to grow the business in line with Company budgets and forecasts
    • Develop action plans for the implementation of improvement efficiencies
    • Manage the implementation of approved action plans
    • Monitor the outcome of implemented improvement initiatives against predefined targets
  • Troubleshoot production issues and minimise downtime
  • To make decisions that relate to the day to day running of the site
    • Decisions to be made to ensure Safety is the number one priority at all times
    • Decisions to be made to ensure the correct level of supervision on site
    • Ensure compliance with all company policies (Finance i.e. stock control, zero outs, fixed asset review).
    • Decisions on deployment of employees to maximise processing capabilities and optimise loading / sales within area of responsibility.
    • Ensure compliance of direct reports with Company policy and procedures
    • Ensure all employees are competent in understanding their areas of personal responsibility
    • Encourage employees at all levels to make recommendations regarding the simplification, enhancement and elimination of policies, systems and procedures

 

Applicants must have knowledge of Non Ferrous material and material recovery processes.  They must have previous experience of managing at appropriate level within a fast-paced environment.  The ideal candidate will be an industry professional who has experience in planning and production scheduling.  Candidates should have the ability to demonstrate a full understanding of Continuous Improvement, knowledge of 5S would be an advantage.  They must be IT literate to include Microsoft Office, with the ability to analyse data and make recommendations based on findings.  Knowledge of relevant Environmental, Health and Safety legislation would be an advantage.

 

Candidates should be self-motivated, flexible and adaptable with the ability to work to deadlines and perform well under pressure.  The role requires exceptional organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.  Applicants must have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to create a strong positive culture focused on safety, business needs, meeting targets and delivering results.  Previous experience of managing / supervising a team is required.
