Boilermaker / Maintenance All-Rounder

Are you a trade-qualified Boilermaker (Heavy Fabrication) who’s just as comfortable stepping in to support maintenance fitters as you are behind the welder? At Sims Metal, we’re looking for a hands-on problem solver to keep our recycling yard moving.

 

The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in keeping our fixed and mobile plant operating at its best. From fabrication to breakdown support, you’ll enjoy plenty of variety in your day.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Completing safe, efficient repairs to maximise machine availability
  • Tackling both planned and unplanned maintenance activities
  • Recommending improvements to plant performance and work practices
  • Rolling up your sleeves to keep a clean, organised workspace
  • Working side by side with fitters and other trades to get the job done
  • Pitching in with overtime during breakdowns and shutdowns when required

 

What You’ll Bring

  • Trade Qualified- Certificate III in Heavy Fabrication -  (essential)
  • Forklift and EWP license (highly regarded)
  • Strong background in maintenance, servicing, and repairs
  • Welding and fabrication skills across MIG, ARC, and oxy cutting
  • Experience in a heavy industrial or production environment
  • A proactive, team-focused attitude
