We're looking for a hands-on, highly motivated leader to manage our Broadmeadow metal recycling operations, which includes a “Metals Recovery Plant” that utilises various sorting equipment to remove metal out of waste.
This is a great opportunity for someone with experience supervising a team in industries like manufacturing, waste, farming, or other practical, hands-on environments. You'll be responsible for leading a team, ensuring safe and efficient yard operations, and delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate daily operations to ensure efficient processing and transport of scrap metal
- Maximise productivity by optimising people, equipment, and material usage
- Support and develop team members to perform safely and effectively
- Manage transport schedules and vendor/customer relationships
- Manage all yard operations to ensure Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality requirements are exceeded
- Monitor stock levels, costs, and maintenance in line with business requirements
- Drive continuous improvement across operations
Essential Criteria
- Previous team leadership skills
- Customer service focus and effective relationship-building skills
- Excellent written & verbal communication
- A solid understanding of operations, manufacturing or scrap metal processing
- Ability to plan and manage workloads while promoting a strong safety culture
- Sound computer skills, including confidence using Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
- A proactive, resilient, and solutions-oriented mindset
- Mechanical knowledge an advantage but not essential.
