Sims Metal have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our Vic maintenance team, based in Broadmeadows.

Reporting to the Operations Engineer, you’ll play a key role in carrying out preventative maintenance, servicing, and day to day repairs on our fixed and mobile equipment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on fixed plant equipment, including hammermill shredder, conveyor systems, balers, and metal sorters
  • Work to a daily maintenance plan and complete all relevant documentation
  • Respond to and assist with equipment breakdowns
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Follow all safety, environmental, and quality protocols

 

About You:

  • Trade qualified Fitter & Turner or Machinist preferably with experience in conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics and gearboxes
  • Basic arc welding and oxy cutting would be an advantage
  • Hold a current driver's license
  • Restricted electrical license is an advantage
  • Preferably hands-on experience in a similar industrial or metal processing environment
  • Strong diagnostic and repair skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
