We are looking for a motivated and safety-focused Heavy Machinery Operator to join our team. Reporting to the Yard Leading Hand, you will play a key role in sorting, grading, processing, and purchasing scrap metals while operating a range of industry-leading machinery.

What You'll Be Doing

• Operating heavy machinery including Material Handlers, Excavators/Shears, Skid Steers/Bobcats, and other production plant equipment.
• Sorting, grading, and processing various metal products.
• Maintaining a strong focus on workplace health and safety.
• Assisting with yard and warehouse housekeeping to ensure a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
• Applying strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail when identifying and processing materials.
• Effectively planning and prioritising daily tasks to support operational efficiency.

What We're Looking For:

• Previous experience in a machinery or plant operation role, such as Material Handler, Excavator/Shear Operator, Skid Steer/Bobcat Operator, or similar.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify, separate, and process different metal types.
• A positive, "can-do" attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
• Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A genuine commitment to safety in the workplace.

Physical Requirements:

This is a hands-on role that involves regular manual handling and working in a busy yard environment. Successful candidates will need to be physically fit, capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing in and out of machinery, and performing general labouring duties as required.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Forklift Licence and WTR endorsements.
• Experience within the metal recycling industry, including metal sorting and processing techniques.
• Experience operating additional heavy machinery or production plant equipment.
