The role:
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be the backbone of our Otahuhu Metal Recycling yard. You will be responsible for the uptime and reliability of critical fixed plant equipment, including conveyors, hammer mills, shears, and balers.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing and repairing heavy industrial plant and equipment
- Executing repairs safely and efficiently to maximise machine availability
- Carrying out both planned preventative and unplanned maintenance
- Recommending and implementing improvements to plants operations and work practices.
- Collaborating with other tradespeople to solve complex mechanical issues.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
- Ability to work overtime during plant breakdowns or scheduled shutdowns as required.
Essential Criteria:
- Trade qualified: Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker (Plate Fitter/Welder) qualification
- Strong background in maintenance, servicing and repairs
- Proficient in fabrication and welding (Mig, Arc and Oxy Cutting)
- Proven experience troubleshooting in a production or heavy industrial environment.
- Experience with conveyor maintenance
Desirable criteria:
- Forklift and EWP license (highly regarded)
- Prior knowledge of scrap metal processing equipment
