Operator

Reporting to the Yard Manager, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient operation of our recycling yard. You'll operate a range of mobile plant and equipment, including excavators, forklifts, to sort, grade and process ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

This is a hands-on, physically active role where you'll also support general yard operations, assist with loading and unloading materials, maintain housekeeping standards, and contribute to the smooth running of the site. Working as part of a committed team, you'll help ensure all activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with operational, environmental and quality standards.

What you’ll be doing:

• Load and unload trucks, skip bins, and trailers safely and efficiently.
• Operate plant and equipment, including forklifts, material handlers, loaders, and excavators
• Grade, sort, and manage ferrous and non-ferrous metals to meet operational and quality requirements.
• Assist with receiving, processing, and dispatching materials.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and operational procedures.
• Identify and report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions.
• Assist with general yard duties and other operational tasks as required.
• Providing outstanding customer service to drivers, customers.

What you’ll bring:

• Current forklift licence and proven forklift operating experience.
• Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Flexibility and willingness to assist across various operational areas.
• Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of metal grading and recycling processes would be an advantage.
• Experience operating heavy mobile plant and equipment.
