Job Summary:

To support the processing of material in a safe and efficient manner and in line with company requirements through the completion of tasks that are primarily manual in nature or involve the occasional use of compact load shifting equipment. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely perform multiple tasks that are primarily manual in nature such as ferrous sorting, non ferrous sorting, belt picking, basic oxy cutting, yard sweeping and other manual cleaning tasks, in line with company requirements 

  • From time-to-time, safely perform other tasks with the use of basic load shifting equipment, such as a compact forklift, in line with basic procedures.  

  • Complete any documentation such as pre-start checks, in accordance with company requirements and provide to Yard Manager or Supervisor as required 

  • Report issues to the Yard Manager or Supervisor and make recommendations as required 

  • Conduct basic fault finding in accordance with basic procedures 

  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for all Safety, Health, Environment, Community, and Sustainability policies, procedures, and initiatives 

  • Support diversity and inclusion, positive employee relations, and team environment 

  • Support measures designed to effectively manage costs and adherence to budgetary requirements 

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives  

  • Comply with all Company policies, procedures and initiatives relevant to the job 

  • Support training and performance management initiatives 

Qualifications:

  • Relevant experience in a similar occupation or industry, preferred 

  • Knowledge of ferrous and non ferrous material, preferred  

Skills:

  • Basic fault finding skills 

  • Verbal and basic written communication skills 

  • Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks 

  • Basic numeracy skills
